Secret Of Success

There is no question that the 21st Century has already seen more than its share of burned out people.  Workaholics abound.  Countless people have bought into the belief that no successful person can achieve balance in life.  As a result, children don’t see enough of their parents, families are collapsing, and individuals are increasingly stressed out.

A CNN story about Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg set off quite a debate in the tech world when she told an interviewer that she works a nine-to-five schedule.  What’s interesting is that she only felt comfortable in talking about her work hours once she had entered the highest levels of management, suggesting that biases against life-work balance are very real in the working world.  

The rat race is in high gear, but the pace of competition has left many people exhausted and disillusioned.  They’re yearning for more personal time and family time like Sandberg has attained.  They’re questioning whether work-life balance is fact or fantasy...

Central Events

Teen Day Camp has arrived!  It is being held this week, July 13 to 17 from 9 AM to 4 PM right here at Central.  Enjoy participating in community service projects, Bible study, making new friends, and fun activities. For more information contact Pastor Michael Butler at (432) 362-0907.

Communion Service and Agape Meal (food provided) will take place this coming Friday evening, July 17 at 6:30 PM in the Camellia Room.  Prepare your hearts now and plan to join us for this time of spiritual renewal.

Shoebox Ministry is gearing up for another summer of sharing truth-filled literature.  Order forms for your shoebox of sharing books will be at the hostess desk.  You can even customize your shoebox today and start sharing words of life with those in need. Central Matters

Additional Associate Pastor for Central: We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Pastor Fred and Lorrie Dana who will be joining the ministerial team here at Central.  Pastor Fred comes with 27 years of ministry experience that includes pastoring and teaching.  Pastor Fred and Lorrie have two children; Jared who is married with children and living in Wisconsin, and Emily, who is also married with children and living in southern California. Pastor Fred’s ministry at Central will focus on discipleship, family life, and some administrative duties. We look forward to introducing them when they arrive in Sacramento.

Facelift to Your Neighbor Thrift Store: Are you wondering where our thrift store has moved to?  The good news is that we haven’t moved anywhere!  Central’s thrift store ministry has been undergoing a change to make it more representative of and appealing to our community.  Our new name is “Smart Thrift” because God has called us to live wisely in today’s world.  Come check out the renovations (6700 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA), and please continue to support this community ministry with your prayers and donations.  More information coming soon.

Volunteer at an AMEN free clinic Sunday, August 23 at the Orangevale SDA Academy gymnasium. We need dentists, hygienists, assistants, physicians, nurses, therapists and non-medical volunteers.
