Hollywood Dropout

Fred Demara must have been one of the most curious people to have ever lived.  For most of the time he wasn’t even Fred Demara.  At one time he was Martin Godgart, a high school teacher.  He was also known as Dr. Robert Linton French, a college dean; Dr. Cecil B. Hamann, a law student; and Brother John, a Catholic Monk.  In addition, he worked as a hospital chaplain, a Hollywood actor, and most unbelievable of all, a surgeon aboard a Canadian navy destroyer.  Demara was probably the greatest pretender of our time. Demara was simply trying to be someone other than himself.

Sadly, there are many people today who do the same thing...

BULLETIN BOARD - An assortment of happenings, announcements, and resources from around the Seventh-day Adventist Church

News & Announcements

Adventist Community Services (ACS) is working hard in response to the flooding in Texas.  ACS served more than 750 people in San Marcos with clothing from the Texas ACS mobile distribution truck.  They have also given out 252 flood buckets.  As a joint project between ADRA (Adventist Development & Relief Agency) and ACS, 3000 buckets were filled with cleaning supplies by Pathfinders at last year's International Pathfinder Camporee in Oshkosh, WI.  The buckets were then distributed across the country for use in major events such as this one.  More than 500 homes have been flooded in the Houston area where ACS is coordinating with area leaders to determine the best way to respond.  ACS is a well-respected disaster response leader that can leverage partnerships and make bulk purchases that can multiply the benefits of your donated dollars. Go to http://www.communityservices.org/ to donate.

Untrue Rumor: Contrary to a post on a satirical website that has given some people the impression that the flooding in Texas has created a need to cancel the General Conference (GC) Session, the 2015 GC Session is still scheduled to take place as planned, July 2 to 11, in San Antonio, Texas.

100 Days of Prayer for the 2015 General Conference (GC) Session began March 25 and will continue through to the end of the GC Session on July 11. Pray for the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to be fully experienced by our church members and leaders during the GC Session.
