Running With Horses

I picked up my ringing cell phone while I was at work.  It was Jen.  She didn’t sound normal; in fact my usually self-possessed wife was boarding on panic.  Before I could ask if everything was all right she was asking me if I knew the neighbor’s number.  I wasn’t putting the pieces together.  Then she clued me in.  She and the kids had just run inside after being chased by a couple of horses.  

We’d seen the horses across the field by our neighbor’s house when we lived in rural Pennsylvania.  A devout horse lover down the street owned them.  Apparently the horses considered the grass was greener in our yard, noticed a break in the fence, and decided it was worth a shot.  Our youngest recalls the time she and her siblings were being chased with the horses right on her heels!

Normally horses aren’t known to chase people.  I wish I could say it happened just once, but multiple times the horses got free and galloped over to our yard; and multiple times I had to chase them back home...

Youth Week of Prayer: Join Pastor Michael Butler and the youth ministries team from April 13 to 17 at 7:00 PM in the church chapel for a week of growing closer to Jesus. 

Preparing for the Harvest: Join us Friday, April 17 @ 7 PM and all day Sabbath, April 18 (until 7:00 PM) for a series of presentations on righteousness by faith. Presenters include Dennis Priebe, Mike Lambert, Larry Kirkpatrick, Christian Berdahl, Allen Davis, and others. Books, CDs, & DVDs will be for sale after sundown Saturday. Thousands Receive Free Healthcare in San Antonio, TX.  It was estimated that residents of San Antonio would receive $10 million worth of free dental and medical services over a three-day period from Seventh-day Adventist professionals. Click here to read more.

AIM Contact Center will provide follow-up for Your Best Pathways to Health in San Antonio. Each of the expected 6,000 individuals who received care at the Pathways to Health event in San Antonio, April 8 to 10, will be given a beautiful brochure about Seventh-day Adventists.  The North American Division Ministerial Department coincidentally committed funding for a follow-up phone number to be featured in this literature on the same day it was scheduled to go to print.  On the back will now be 1-800-HIS-WORD which connects to the AIM Evangelistic Contact Center of the church. Calls will be answered with an offer of prayer ministry, Bible study, and connection to the local church.  Efforts are being made to provide a way for people to continue to make contact after the event is over.
