Shrewish Women

Although God calls for the husband to be the spiritual leader in the home we can’t blame all the marital and family woes on him.  For every justifiable complaint women have against their renegade man (see previous blog – Renegade Men), there can be a corresponding gripe on the other end.  Women can be as selfish and irresponsible as their men.  

Speaking about an incident that occurred between her and her husband, this brave woman confessed: “I launched into him.  I berated him for not being smarter.  Why can't I trust him?  Do I need to spell out every little thing for him in minute detail so he gets it right?  Why wasn't he more observant?  How could he not have noticed over the years what I always get?  Does he not pay attention to anything I do?”  And what caused this wife to let her husband have it?  Hamburger meat.  Apparently he had picked up the 70/30 variety at the store instead of the 80/20.  She admitted that her husband had a look of resignation and demoralization on his face that she had seen a lot in recent years.  After that episode she concluded she wasn’t going to speak to him that way again...

Cultural Fair Coming to Central!  Central’s Family Life Ministry is hosting a cultural fair on Sunday, April 19.  If you’re interested in representing a specific nationality and would like to supervise a booth, please email Family Life chair, Tyra Taylor at taylorty15@gmail.com.

Church Work Bee: Calling all members & friends to come out to help beautify the house of God on Sunday, March 22 beginning at 8 AM.  There are windows to clean, pews to polish, tables and chairs to wipe down, weeds to be pulled, shrubs to be pruned, closets to be cleaned out, carpets to clean, brick to be power washed, etc.  Look forward to seeing you there!

New Believers Orientation will be held on Sabbath, April 4, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM in the Family Life Room.  Come and hear a lively discussion on the following topics: History of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Spirit of Prophecy, Adventist Education, Adventist Media, Medical work, and various other ministries and services of our world wide church. Court Ruling Regarding Marriage & Religious Freedom: “The Seventh-day Adventist Church filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Count recently asking that it provide legal protections to religious denominations in a potentially landmark same-sex marriage case. The church is concerned that a written decision in favor of same-sex marriages nationwide might contain language that could one day open the door to requiring religious organizations to provide services contrary to their beliefs, such as obliging universities to open up married student housing to same-sex couples, or hospitals to allow same-sex weddings in their chapels.” To read more click here.
