Run For Your Life!

Why do we do it?  I mean, why do we run into mortal danger to save other people, and not run away from it?  If our better sense has told us once, it’s told us a thousand times: stay out of danger!  Do we listen?  When a madman is raging, when bombs are going off, when a 110-story building is collapsing, shouldn’t we run for our lives?...

Emerging Church Symposium: As you know, the Emerging Church movement has been gaining momentum in Evangelical circles.  Is it possible that it has made inroads into the Seventh-day Adventist Church?  Our movement survived the alpha of apostasy during the Kellogg years, yet we were told the omega would be much worse.  Could this be the omega of apostasy?  “Operation Iceberg" was formed to educate our people on the dangers of emergent theology.  On October 17 and 18th, we will host a symposium of speakers, who are dedicated to sharing the truth about this subject.  Please join us for the following messages:

Friday, October 17th: 6:30pm: Steve Wohlberg - "The Emerging Church Controversy within Adventism”; 7:30pm: Janet Neumann - “A Church in Change?”

Sabbath, October 18th: 11:00am: Allen Davis - “The Power of the Everlasting Gospel”; 1:30pm: Alexa Hernandez - “Adventism’s Emergence"; 2:30pm: David Fielder - “When All Else Fails”; 3:30pm: Gerry Wagoner - “The New Evangelism”

In addition to the speakers above, Stephen Bohr and Dustin Butler will join the group for a town hall panel beginning at 4:30pm. This will be an opportunity to gain deeper insight into the issues as the speakers discuss more specific concerns and also field questions from the audience.  The program will be live streamed and CDs & DVDs will be made available for ordering. We look forward to seeing you there!

ABOUT CENTRAL HAPPENINGS

Dear friend,

We would like to warmly welcome you to Central Happenings – a weekly e-newsletter from your pastoral staff to inform, update, and keep in touch.

It was George Bernard Shaw who once quipped, “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.”  Ask anyone and they will tell you how true this is.  Healthy communication is a prerequisite to healthy relationships, and no less for the church family.

We plan to make Central Happenings a pithy and relevant read with the obvious goal to simply communicate.  You can expect each edition to contain:

Pastor’s Blog - a refreshing Biblical insight from your pastors.

Central News & Happenings – important info on news and events taking place at Central.

Bulletin Board – includes various news, resources, programs, and/or initiatives taking place in the Seventh-day Adventist Church locally and around the world that may impact you.

We trust you’ll find Central Happenings (not to be confused with The Central Connection) another great resource that will allow you to stay in touch with your church family.  As your pastoral staff we look forward to continuing to reach out to you as we seek to press together for the work at hand and in preparation for the soon return of Jesus.
