Our Urgent Need

You wake up one morning feeling like an elephant has been sitting on your chest. You’re in extricating pain. This isn’t normal. Your urgent need at that moment is to get to the doctor, or to the emergency room, to get treated. 

You’re driving down the road, minding your own business, and suddenly a car pulls out in front of you. There’s nothing you can do to stop your vehicle in time. There’s a fender-bender. You’re glad it wasn’t worse but you didn’t need this major delay today. Your urgent need at that moment is to call 911 to report the accident.

Everyone has those moments when something more urgent than what we were doing demands our attention. Whatever it was, we had to take notice, sit up, and do something. It was pressing. It was driving. It was urgent! That makes me wonder what the most critical, the most vital need last-day Christians have today . . .

Upcoming Events

The next Healthy Plate Cooking Class, Making Healthy Lifestyle Choices, is Monday, January 25 at 7 PM in the Camellia Room. The presenter, Elizabeth Pancoast, R.N., is a certified Lifestyle Educator and Counselor from Uchee Pines. She explains going from good to better to best in making healthy lifestyle choices. We will be demonstrating how to make healthy veggie burgers. You’re welcome to join us for a donation of $5.

Central Church Retreat. Plan now to join us for our annual church retreat at Leoni Meadows, March 4-6, 2016 with featured speaker Randy Skeete. Activities for children and youth.  Applications can be picked up at the church office, hostess desk, or on our website www.saccentral.org/church-retreat.

The Arkansas-Louisiana Conference and two of its members filed a lawsuit against the city of Whitehall, Ark., yesterday over a local ordinance that prevents door-to-door literature evangelism. The city restricts all forms of door-to-door solicitation and the expression of ideas unless those wishing to share their religious or charitable beliefs obtain a permit from the city, pay permit fees, share significant personal information, and pass a “satisfactory” investigation and review.
