Run For Your Life
Why do we do it? I mean, why do we run into mortal danger to save other people, and not run away from it? If our better sense has told us once, it’s told us a thousand times: stay out of danger! Do we listen? When a madman is raging, when bombs are going off, when a 110-story building is collapsing, shouldn’t we run for our lives?
Sure, at the first sound of gunfire or an explosion, our survival instincts kick in and we duck or run for cover. But why, when our initial reaction is over, do we brush off common sense and rush headlong into trouble to offer a helping hand?...
