One of the nicest, and I think one of the most important promises the Bible gives last-day Christians is found in Revelation 18:1.  It says, “I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”  It may not seem very special on the surface but as you dig deeper several significant things come to the surface:

1) Because the message comes from the throne room of God to earth it must be of utmost importance.

2) This message obviously has to do with God’s glory, or the shining forth of His magnificent character through the everlasting gospel.

3) The message, found in verses 2-5, corresponds with that given in Revelation 14:6-12, specifically verse 8.  What this means is that it is not only a message to be shared with the world before Christ comes back, but in a special sense it is to thrust the message forward with “great power” to ripen the world for the return of Christ.
