How To Cope At The End Of Your Rope
No one really wants to be mastered by his or her circumstances. There might be something staring us down, seeking to overcome us. But while we might not be able to change our circumstances we certainly don’t need them to control us. Nonetheless, we still experience stress. Stress is something everyone who is living will always experience, and experience often.
|
Today, people are dealing with more stress than usual. Someone recently said, “I’m not turning my clock back one hour on November 1 because, seriously, none of us needs another hour of 2020.” It’s been a stressful year to say the least, and unfortunately, it’s not over yet.

Elijah was God’s spokesperson. Not only that, he was God’s hero. He had just confronted the King of Israel with a startling message from God. At risk to his own life, he faithfully delivered that message. Shortly afterwards, he squared off with 850 false preachers and prophets. But when he heard the threatening of one lone person, he felt compelled to run for his life. In an instant, Elijah went from being fearless to being fearful. Instead of fighting he took flight! You can read the fascinating story in 1 Kings, chapters 18 and 19.
|
Elijah didn’t cope very well with this situation, and we have to admit, when it comes to certain stressful moments, we don’t always cope very well either. Now some seem to manage them better than others...
