At Central, we think that music for any of our programs needs to be different. It needs to be special.
Because of our international TV ministry, Central’s worship service has a defining influence. Its content and style should be in marked contrast with what is commonly heard elsewhere. Church music must be sacred, not common. We aim for a balance of style and reverence that will be a blessing to the larger body.
As a musician performing at Central Church, we ask that you take responsibility and read the following guidelines. Your cooperation is deeply appreciated.
- The time allotted for special music is to be no more than FIVE minutes. This includes the introduction. (The introduction is given by the church chorister.)
- Please dress in a modest and reverent way so the message in your music is not lost by any distracting or flamboyant apparel.
- We request that live accompaniment be provided, if at all possible. We understand that it's easier and more predictable to just play a selection from an accompaniment track; However, we have several gifted musicians that can play any song. We realize that this takes extra effort, but if scheduled with sufficient lead time, it can be arranged. (To schedule a pianist, please contact the church office.)
- If it is essential for you to use an accompaniment track for a certain song, use only those tracks that do not have distracting drums or percussion.
Please keep in mind that your music sets the tone for the sermon that follows.
At the conclusion of the church service, please stop by our media distribution room to receive your complimentary unedited DVD.
