The Central Connection
Discipleship Ministry
The Mission of the Discipleship Ministry is to provide a welcoming environment to newly baptized believers by connecting them with mature, balanced members of Sacramento Central Church who can mentor the new member “buddy” to grow in Christ, deepen their understanding of the Adventist message and to eventually become an actively involved participating church member. The ministry's goal is not just to focus on outreach, but place a great emphasis on retention as well.

The Discipleship Ministry provides guidance to new believers during the first critical months of participation just prior to and after baptism through a “mentoring” program.

We help the new believer become grounded in the faith and to become an active participant in the church.
Guide the new believer through some of the practical realities of the Adventist life-style, world Adventist church structure, programs and educational offerings. Our ultimate goal is to prepare the new believer to be a mentor for future new believers.

Ministry members are called "Mentors." Mentors need to be reliable, spiritually mature and actively involved church member who care enough to call, visit and/or remain in contact with new members. The mentor should be friendly and able to promote Christian fellowship while encouraging church involvement. The mentor should make the new church member feel at home.

The mentor will commit to make contact with the new member weekly, through a phone call, email or at church.
The mentor will take responsibility for introducing the new adult member to the Recent Believers Sabbath School Class, encourage them to participate in a Home Bible Fellowship group, walk them through the church programs, publications and educational opportunities available to them, and introduce them to opportunities to serve their fellow believers through the various Church Ministries.

Youth mentors will also invite and integrate their buddies into the Youth programs at the church.

Individuals interested in being a mentor should contact Mike Grace, 916.488.3514 or email, mikegrace1952@gmail.com
